Advanced output slice input source name

It would be a huge time saver if next to which layer is selected as a slice input source, the name of the layer is displayed. Advanced output could just read the name of the layer index in the currently loaded composition. This saves time finding the right layer as a source in compositions with lots of layers.

The thing is though that layer numbers are not associated with layer names so if you move a named layer up or down, it becomes a new number but the layer assignmnent in your FX clips, layer router and slices doesn't change.
So for instance if you assign layer 2 [name] it will remain layer 2 when your layer [name] becomes layer 3.

What I am suggesting does not require anything to change other than the text on the dropdown menu. It doesnt need to actually save the layer name with the index in the advanced output. It would only need to read the layer name from the composition when advanced output is opened and then display it next to the layer number.

That's a pretty good suggestion, as it doesn't break the current behaviour but does clear things up considerably. We'll take a look at the possibilities.

This feature is live and kicking in Arena 5.0.0 and Avenue 4.5.0

Awesome! I got out of the habit on renaming layers to avoid confusion so this is one step in the right directly but somewhat useless to me unless you implement the same logic with the dropdown menu in the layer routers in 5.0.1?

Don't be let down, you DID make me happy for a few seconds
The thing is though, the advance output is not something you work with during the show but the layer router is so it would make sense to have the names available in the layer router clip.
As you already know, I build a lot of compositions using layer routers. I actually create comps that have multiple independent sub-comps and I use the layer router to route the final output to the advanced output so being able to quickly navigate the input source for layer routers has become key to my workflow.
