[Resolume Final] Reboot using Live Feed

Post by Anonymous »

Hello,

I am using resolume 2.0 final (demo), but when i try to use my webcam my pc reboots. Everything else just works fine. I've got a Logitech Quickcam (yes that cheap one ;)) and i run Windows XP Professional..

Thank you!

Hi,
Had tried a similar setup as well, but if you're talking about only connecting webcam through Sources and assigning to a channel, than that seems to work alright.

My problem was slightly down the line - connected a webcam, tried to save a Freeframe plugin to a deck and thing crashed.

Yep. I think this is it:

Sometimes I use 3 webcams with different drivers. But It happens that one or more webcams will crash. It says 'cannot initialize driver'. (in the channel or even in screen)

It can happen that the Layer and/or the channel were the webcam was in, will freeze and even that is no possible to drag in any new footage.

Mostly this occurs due USB banwith problems. It is very small. Sometimes even one cam can take all usb space. If you use a usb keyboard and mouse and even a USB MIDI controller as I do, it can get very buggy.

If my webcams crash I have to reinstall them with the install CD from the cams, otherwise they wont work in Resolume, but they work in XP though.

Be shure when you plug in the webcam that XP detects it, like 'New hardware detected' and that it will initialize the drivers correctly. Before you start resolume!!
In resolume use the source webcam feed instead of the live feed.

The source of the webcam uses the correct drivers for your cam while the Livefeed uses main (other) WinXP drivers.

Good luck ;)

Well, My setup:

I have two webcams right now, also a USB Midi-Controller, a USB Wacom Tablet, running on a Shuttle PC (SNG14-something) + AMD athlon 2.8 GhZ )+ 1000 MB Memory
Two cams work, with SOURCES, (not livefeed!, Livefeed is alway mirrored wrong)

Just two different Trust cams, one from 15 euro one from 30 euro. It works but its buggy. One Cam will hang sometimes. Its not always the same cam.

Even if I use the setup not on my Shuttle PC, but on my Laptop (2,4 Ghz/ 500 MB mem.)

So I don't think it has anything 2 do with your PC, its just the USB bandwith wich is very small and buggy. So if you want to have more cams, just use two computers and two cams. This is the most stable with me. One computer is the Streamsender (with the free- send-plugin,) The other is the receiver.

Note: If you use one computer for resolume and all the effects. different movies, use the other computer only for one or maybe tow cams. Than the USB bandwith will be more stable.

Good luck!
And If someone knows it better please reply to this topic!

Mazzel!
