Windows 10 +R5 / R4, will crash when 2nd Screen is activated

Hello,
i have two Laptops running Windows 10.
MSI GS70 (Quad Haswell, 870m+Intel HD4600 via Optimus) and GT72 (Quad Broadwell, 980m + HD5600 (no Optimus, thus not active))
The GS70 runs fine with Resolume, no problems at all.
The GT72 will crah as soon as I activate a 2nd monitor, no matter if fullscreen, windowed or Advanced.
I tested all available win10 drivers, from MSI and directly from Nvidia. It changes: nothing.
I also tried to install an older driver (352) but this wouldnt install properly.
this Laptop has NO optimus. You switch gfx by pressing a button and restarting the laptop.
I can connect 3 external sources, and Windows will detect and supply them easily with a valid signal.
I also tried to deinstall the Intel gfx driver, but this also didnt change anything.
Also Matrox Powerdesk didnt help.
I tried all kind of different external sources, didnt help.
i also tried all available "normal" driver options.
Multidisplay mode, adaptive energy modes, vertical sync, shader precompiling (only dirctx or also f. opengl?), etc.
I tried Resolume Arena 4.2.1 and Resolume Avenue 4.1.11.
Both show the same effect.
If anyone could help, this would be perfect. Actually the MSI should run a mapping installation right now.
Had to use the fallback option with slow gt750m laptop. Ok, but...

Which 980m do you have? the 4GB or 8GB version?
I just went through 3 different Sager laptops in 1 month with a 970m because the everything would crash (photoshop, illustrator and cinema 4d) and framerates in resolume were horrible. There was an option in the BIOS to change a graphics setting and it made things better for a while, but they progressively got worse.
I just ordered another Sager with a 980m 8GB hoping it will fix my problems.
One thing you can do it tell Win10 to NOT install any new device drivers from windows update (buried in the settings). Completely uninstall the drivers for the nvidia card from device manager then install the latest drivers from nvidia themselves to see if that fixes the problems.

Hello. It´s the 4GB 980m
As written above, I tried out all different sort of Nvidia and MSI drivers for the 980m.
Also i deinstalled the "hidden" drivers for the unactivated Intel Gfx, just in case...
Maybe the source of the problem is the propretiary monitor signal switch inside the GT72 Laptop.
It has no optimus mechanism, stil the outputs can either be routed to either the Nvidia 980m or the Intel HD5600.
Or... m´Maybe it´s just 970m/980m drivers which make problems...
Any help from the resolume Team?
Best,
Stefan

We're hearing about more problems around Win 10 and NVidia. Some of the problems seem to get fixed with NVidia's recent driver updates, but others are more persistent. For most people, Resolume is completely fine on Win 10.
We have a few test machines running NVidia hardware, but Win 10 runs fine on those as well. If the problem is on our end and not solved by an upcoming NVidia driver update, I'm afraid that at this point, there's not much we can do about it.
A log file only helps a little. To really debug the problem, we would need to get our hands on a computer that has the problem. That way we can see if any changes we make in our code actually has any effect. So if anyone that is experiencing this problem is willing to send over their computer, we'd really, really appreciate it and gladly take care of the shipping costs.

I would be totally up for that, regarding that my newly bought laptop is 100% rendered useless right now.
I, mad as it is, solely bought it for having a good resolume media server, and i can control 8 HD projectors with it in theory, so... yep...
but this comes at a price: 3 outputs are only possible without optimus, and resolume seems to not like it :-/
So, what now?
wait for the next driver upgrade cycle by MSI and/or Nvidia?
Or ship directly?
The laptop is just sitting idling here with me.
Please get in contact with me for arranging the shipment if needed.
Thank you,
Stefan

Update:
Problem persists with R5, but with an interesting twitch, now Resolume is displaying display11 and display12 instead of display1 / display2 ... not sure if this has to say anything, but that´s what I observed and wondered about.

To anyone having this problem:
Could you please try setting your Windows Desktop Scaling to 100%? :

Although we haven't confirmed anything yet, we think this solves the problem.
It would be great if one or more of you could confirm whether this works or not.
