OSC out of the box with resolume 4.2 for Master/Slave setup.

Hey guys,
So I remember struggling with this for a while. But as of late Arena is letting me setup a master slave system with OSC on my network. I have to simply turn on OSC output on one machine and enter the IP address of the slave machine, and on the slave machine I enable OSC input. I am now able to trigger a clip on one machine, and the same clip triggers on my slave system. This works with faders and effects and everything. This is an awesome solution for a backup resolume system for corporate events etc.
Initially I remember that this was broken and you would just get a black output.
Just wondering if there were any thoughts on how its working now? It is fixed in 4.2? I dont think it was mentioned in the change log.

Joshuadmello, I tested after our PM exchange and it worked great. That was a great discovery so thank you!
One thing I'd LOVE to see added is a way to save the comp via OSC so that when you make changes in the master and save, the slave comp is saved as well.

Master-Slave has improved a lot,
still there are some things that could cause the slave to behave unexpected, for example
- you launch a clip on the master, master sends a clip connect message to the slave, slave starts playing,
then the master will send a lot of transport position messages which the slave will treat as if it would get new positions for the playhead - while playing that same clip - and if the received position and the actual position doesn't match on the slave you will get frame jumping.
- You won't be able to use a different length clip on the slave either because of the above. The clip on the slave will play at a different rate if lengths are not equal. (You know the playhead position is in a range of 0.0f- 1.0f.)
and I could go on...
with a few OSC filters between the two(or more) machines however you can get pretty close to a reliable Master-slave.

OSC input/output is one of those behemoth features that has an extremely wide scope in what it does and what it affects.
We occasionally chip away at it, but we still have a long way to go before we can include it as fixed in any release notes.

Hi!
I just tested this Master/Slave set up with Arena 5.0.0, and it still out of sync a lot...
so I think it still needs to be fixed in further update. ( Need this feature so badly! )

What do you mean by "out of sync" and what's your OSC setup?

I don't think that Master/Slave operation is listed anywhere as an official feature.
Look at
this app it has a Relay mode with filters to run resolumes master-slave.
You can use your own blacklist and whitest too.
