I have a show coming up where I am mapping on a wall for a gala event and the client is putting the band right in front of that wall. I'd like to be able to mask out the band but I haven't used the kinect yet with resolume is it possible to achieve this?

the kinect won't track the instruments just the people,
however you could use the depth data to create your mask, and use only depths around your projection surface.
then you would need to adjust the kinect mask to your projection.
And of course you would need to program the kinect outside of resolume.

I would choose a simpler way without the kinect,
I would shoot an image with my phone from the projector to the stage, then leave the band and cut everything else, with a feathered selection. and use that image as a mask.

or create a polygon mask in advanced output.

The kinect camera is way too slow for moving objects... especially a drummer. You need a short throw projector
