On the same matter but not with Arnet...

I've made a set-up with 5 fixtures of 32 pixels and I'm connected to it with an Enttec DMXUSB pro from my Macbook Pro same configuration. I've uploaded the Enttec Pro Manager Utility and tested it with my connection and do several tests with success. My Macbook Pro has no difficulties to detect the Enttec DMXUSB Pro box. I can control all the LEDs with the faders provided in the SEND option...

But, once in Resolume, I've tried to set-up the Enttec DMXUSB Pro with no result. Resolume doesn't see it... I've tried to follow the Manual and did my best to create a Luminverses and a correct fixture... but nothing working... (I'm not an expert with DMX...)

Does somebody tried the same thing with success ? will you be smart enough to provide me a guideline or maybe an explanation about why Resolume can't detect the Enttec DMXUSB Pro (1.44 Firmware).

I will continue to go thrue this because I want it to work but... it's really frustrating at the moment.

Enttec is having lots of difficulties with OSX at the moment, because Apple changed their driver protocol. They now only allow FTDI compatible devices and disable all D2xx based apps ( which is what Enttec is ).

The result is that you have to jump through some hoops, even to get their own Pro Manager to work with the Enttec box.

Once Pro Manager is working, Resolume should work too though. So I have some follow-up questions that would be helpful to answer.

Have you made sure you've completely stopped Pro Manager before starting Resolume? Have you used Enttec's tool to switch drivers? And which version of OSX are you running?

Sorry for the double posting on this subject... I was searching for a solution and I've discovered the other thread related to the enttec box specifically... so from now on I will keep posting in this one. Sorry again for the trouble. The essential being to find an issue.

About Joris question: I was running the Pro Manager On and able to make a connection with my Enttec DMXUSB Pro. I choose the Patterns option and did several tests with success... I've also tried the Fader option and was able to address the pixels individually. By the way this utiliy was fine to help me understand the relation between numbers and Leds (which isn't very clear in any of the documents I've found (including Resolume Manual). It's not clear for me the relation betwen channels and the DIP switches in the Resolume Manual illustrations. I didn't install the D2xx app... should I? Can you pride me a good link for this?

I'm going to try what you suggest as to disconnect the Pro Manager and see if Resolume sees the Enttec... I've restarded my Macbook also...

- Opened the preferences and got the only choice to connect with Artnet (from were I don't know what to do...);

Just wanted to say I'm sorry about the way I was on that other thread; yesterday was very difficult for me.
But onto today, I wanted to see if I could help!

Okay, so the new version of PRO-Manager- version 2.34b is great in a number of ways; first off it supports Apple's virtual serial FTDI Kernal extension (which replaces / is essentially the same as FTDI's VCP serial driver) and second off supposedly it also supports direct communication over the D2xx protocol (which is mutually exclusive of the VCP/Apple Serial drivers).

I believe, and correct me if I'm mistaken - Resolume Arena prefers to use the D2xx method- which means if the Apple FTDI kernel extension is engaged, the device will show up as taken (hypothetically not showing up at all which seems to be your case). Now, you said you hadn't installed any D2xx drivers, and one shouldn't necessarily have to, with Arena 5 I can see they are baked in as a dylib included in the MacOS folder of the Arena.app.

What I'm going to suggest that you try is to disable Apple's FTDI kernel extension or FTDI's VCP, which you don't have to commit to doing. If you're familiar with terminal you can unload it at any time by typing (in my case it says FTDIUSBSerialDriver, but for you it might say Apple. To get the name of what's using the port type: any time when your DMX USB PRO is plugged in.

You can restore it at any time by running that first command again, removing the un in front of unload.

Because you're running El Capitan though, You can't use that gui tool that someone made a while back to rename the kext (effectively disabling it) so you'll have to run that command up there upon each reboot.
There is a more persistent solution available for El Capitan from FTDI, it's called D2xx helper I can't post a link here for some reason and it's off on the right side of that webpage (FTDI's main D2xx webpage).

So try that and see if it works, I'm curious to see your results. Also, I've been doing a lot of troubleshooting with this myself- for me I can't get Resolume to get the Serial of my box when the kexts are disabled (using D2xxHelper); all I see is USB PRO 1 () when I feel like I should be seeing USB PRO 1 (02053879).
When the kexts are enabled, I see (greyed out):
Enttec Device #0 (NO SN. CURRENTLY IN USE #0) - UNAVAILABLE
PRO-Manager 2.34b does show the device and it does work with it but only with VCP working, it never identifies the device over D2xx alone.
It's quite unfortunate, thusly I've resorted to using OLA (over VCP) on my machine to capture Artnet from Resolume as a workaround- and so far that seems to be working.

Joris I appreciate your input here, let me know what you think of this solution for JoCool (since we both have the same type of computer) and if anything comes to mind with the problem I've been having. I'd like to know if Arena is capable of using the apple FTDI serial kext, since that seems to be the best way (only way) to interact with my device.

So it looks like Enttec has now decided to go with Apple's approach and work with FTDI instead of D2xx. This must be a recent thing. I checked 2 weeks ago and they were still saying to use their tool to switch extensions back then. If they have really made the switch, this means that we have to rewrite how Resolume works with the Enttec dongles on OSX. I'll make a ticket to look into this for 5.0.2.

so... reading all this I'm questionning if it's worth to try the suggestions made by Kez or to wait for Resolume 5.0.2?

What do you suggest? For now, I won't have time to test this until next week... In the meantime, I want to thank you both for your support... I fill less alone...

Just put your DMXUSB Pro on ebay and get an Enttec ODE and you won't have to worry about it anymore or wait for 5.0.2

you give me no much choice but... I'll wait for 5.02; My DMXUSB Pro was bought for a marriage gig by a friend and I'll be curious to be able to to use it once again... nonetheless I'm open to go for an MK2 but I'll need another project to pay for it...

Pro, ode or mk2 device to work osx resolume? What should I buy? Also I found rdm controller by enttec.
