Greetings!!

Obviously you understand the power and capability of using this "Ableton Live" Midi controller to your advantage.
I am SUPER curious about how you set it up!

Most likely, the square buttons trigger video clips, and likely your faders control layers. The crossfader is really nice for "A/B".
But what else?

If any of you can give me some DETAILS about how you've programmed this for your live show, that would be great. I keep having "ideas" about what I might want to do with it, but I get lost down rabbit holes all the time, and need some inspiration.

For example, the Mute/Solo/Record buttons: What to do with those?
What about the 16 rotary knobs: effects?

Man, if you could take the time to detail what you're doing, that would be hugely appreciated.
I'm new to Resolume, and I'm kind of stuck for ideas.

Cheers,
Burnalot

My advice to people with a new controller is *not* to try to map each and every button and fader to do something. First do a show with just the mouse. As soon as you find yourself doing the same action with the mouse a few times, you know that that is a feature you'll want to assign to your controller. Then take a look at your controller, and ask yourself where you would like that control to be.

For instance, mapping the crossfader of the APC to Resolume's crossfader may seem an obvious choice when you first look at it. Personally I never use the crossfader in Resolume at all. Instead I really like to control a single global distortion effect with the APC's crossfader, because it's really easy to find without having to look down.

Have been using Resolume for a couple of years now... Never spotted the crossfader!

I like to map some simple things like overall colour (colourise effect on comp). Layer opacities, and play directions. I usually map a button as a composition invert, nice little manual strobe effect.

Thanks for the "Invert Color" strobe effect idea, that's really grand!
You also got me thinking about Speed on clips, slowing down, speeding up, reversing direction, video "scrub."

I am first and foremost a musician, so I like the idea of any kind of "musical participation" while VJ'ing.

FOR SURE setting up a "Tap Tempo" feature will be crucial as well.
I have a lot of green screen clips, but I think keying is something that should be done in advance.

Thanks guys, keep 'em coming!

Thanks for the "Invert Color" strobe effect idea,!

Not my idea... Pretty sure original credit goes to whoever wrote the Arena manual a few years ago. It's a nice effect to have to hand.
