Resolume crash with iPad as display via "AirDisplay"

Hey All,
I haven't been able to find any thread to help so here goes. I want to connect an iPad Air to my New Mac Mini with El Capitan via USB and use it as a personal 2nd display monitor since I can't always see the projectors. I currently have successfully connected the iPad as a 2nd display with AirDisplay and Duet apps.
PROBLEM:
Resolume will stay open fine when I have my iPad as a display via USB paired with either Air Display or Duet apps PROVIDED I don't select ANY output display. If I select a display, either windowed or full screen the whole app crashes every single time without fail immediately upon selecting it. I've done all of the no brainer trouble shooting .
I would LOVE for this feature to work because I had to buy a 2nd 19 inch display and lug it to my first gig because I didn't realize this was going to be such a problem. Has anyone gotten this to work?
( I am running El Capitan on a new mac mini, receiving MIDI info from a second computer using Ableton.)
Thanks
VY
