Artnet work in demo arena 5?

I downloaded the demo of arena 5 today. PC is running win7

I am unable to see any artnet output. The same hardware/ PC works with Madrix, Pangolin Beyond, and Jinx freeware.

I changed to enttec pro in the "DMX Preferences" and get a good DMX stream from the enttec pro. So, I beleive I have the lumiverse set correctly.

Any hints or ideas? Or is artnet not enabled in the freeware?

thx

Artnet works in demo mode as well.

The problem is that Artnet is a bit of a black box. If it works, it just works and it's awesome. If it doesn't, it's very hard to figure out why, and it sucks monkeyballs.

Here's what I do to get Artnet output from Resolume:

On the sending side I have Arena 5.0.1, on a 2013 Mac Pro running OSX 10.11.1.

On the receiving side, I'm using an Enttec ODE set to Universe 0 to connect to a 16 pixel RGB LED bar.

The ODE and the Mac Pro are both connected to a router.

I open the advanced output. I create a fixture for a 16 pixel RGB strip. This automatically creates a Lumiverse. I then open the DMX Preferences and create an ArtNet output for Universe 0, subnet 0.

At this moment, my Enttec ODE starts flashing and the LED bar starts showing pixel output. Funnily enough, any Arena computers on the network that accidentally have Artnet *input* enabled on Universe 0 now start responding as well, and my colleagues get very angry.

Please, feel free to suggest any idea on why this wouldn't work for you, and what we can do about that to help you. Also if you have ideas for features that could help you troubleshoot these type of connection issues, we're all ears!

Thanks for the reply.

Originally i created the "new output" in the DMX preferences. Next, I used the "DMX Pixel Tube" fixture in the Advanced output.

On your recommendation I tried it the other way around. I create the fixture in advanced output. This is created under lumiverse 1. In the "DMX output" tab of advanced output I see the pixel levels changing, as well as on the bottom of the side bar. Now when I go to DMX Preferences the lumiverse does not show up. I have to click "new output". Still no data stream.

Is there an "ENABLE" in some menu I have not found?

I am new to resolume. I am probably missing something for sure. This will be used for a medium sized club install with about 5000 pixels and two vid screens. I was going to use madrix. But a friend mentioned resolume now did artnet. After downloading resolume, I must say I am very excited about its capabilities. The GUI is lightyears ahead of madrix IMHO. I just need to get a grip on the artnet. Its has to be solid.

What hardware are you using to catch the Artnet?

ARTNET6UN. its a artnet to 6 universe DMX out. ebay item number 321901687165. Have used several of these with zero issues.

And are you sure you've matched the universe settings? Ie, what universes is the Artnet6UN listening to?

Yes. I can switch over to different software on the same PC and its works fine. Next I will try and use a another PC on the network with a artnet/ DMX monitor to doubvle check for data.

It seems like I am missing some "output enable" on the software....? However it does work with the enttec.

I understand that, but that's not really an answer to my question. Perhaps the answer is implied, but this answer could also indicate that the other software auto-detects the universe settings of the Artnet6UN. In Resolume there is no autodetect, so if your Artnet6UN is set to listen on Universe 6 through 12, you will need to match this setting in Resolume.

So what universes is the Artnet6UN listening to? And have you matched this in Resolume?

No. Artnet output is enabled by creating a DMX output in the preferences and setting it to Artnet.

The other software is unicast so I have to set the IP and address manually. The ARTNET6UN is set for net 0, uni 0-5. I don't have much experience with multicast. Maybe my problem is here?

Thanks, that answer helps a lot, at least we know now it's not a universe mismatch.

Have you tried disabling wifi and removed any additional wired networks? As long as there is a single active network, Resolume will broadcast to all IPs on that network, so there should not be a need to enter the IP of your Artnet6UN, just the universes.

Does the Artnet6UN support broadcast input?
