FPS and Codec Problems

Hello!

Been using Resolume for our live shows recently, so far things are good. Like it better than the previous software that we were using. However, we ran into a couple of issues regarding 4K videos and stuttering.

Codec:

Currently, when we tried to play 4K videos, we realise that it doesn't really play well. Does Resolume support the HAPQ codec in their videos? If it doesn't, are there any other options that we can use instead?

Stuttering Problems:

So far, when we play videos on Resolume, on our preview screen in Resolume, it looks fine, but when it comes out live on the LED screens, the video tends to stutter - it feels like the video is playing at 80% of it's normal speed. We use MPEG-4 codec for our videos - could it be due to this codec issue or otherwise?

Thanks! So far it's working good, but if we could iron out these kinks, it would be great. :D

Hi there,

follow and check these steps and you might get rid of your problem ;)

- Make sure Quicktime is installed on your system.
- Use the DXV codec which comes with Resolume for your videos
- After you add your video to the deck, make sure it is set to timeline mode
- If you don't use sound make sure your video doesn't contain any sound.
- To be sure that everything runs at 100% speed check the global playback-speed fader in Resolume and reset it via right-click. Manual Link!

Best wishes

If you are using MPEG-4 format (probably H.264) for 4K videos in Resolume chances are you're running out of memory. The DXV3 codec (QuickTime format) displaces the decompression to the GPU to speed things up:
from the manual wrote:The Resolume DXV Video Codec is a hardware (GPU) accelerated codec. The decompression of the video frames is done directly on the video card.
Another thing to do is to download the 4K benchmark Part 1 & Part 2 and test your system to understand how your system handles 4K videos.
