No display on output: small or fullscreen

Hi,
I am running Resolume Avenue 4.1.4 specifically for fugfeedback, which works great, but is only limited to the preview window. I can't even get the comp to show in the small output window in the corner, just the preview.
I've tried to just open up the full display 1920x1080 and just get a black screen.
I've uninstalled, re-installed, tried the latest version of Resolume, tried latest vers of Arena, uninstalled, re-installed, am am now back to Resolume 4.1.4.
Still no luck. The file is a quick AVI. I used to be able to use MOV's but for some reason cannot now.
So, I stick with avi, even though some avi files resolume will not recognize when I drag into the window for applying effects, and again, any luck I have getting a visual in the frames will only carry over to the preview window and never the small or full screen output window.
The weird thing is that when I first installed it, I did, very briefly, get a smaller output visual with the clip.
Here is my system.
It's a laptop:
ASUS ROGJZ
32 gb ram
NVIDIA GEFORCE 880M 4GB
i7-4700HQ
7200rpm hdd
256 X2 GB SSD
Is it impossible to monitor internally at fullscreen on a laptop?
My needs are to fraps capture the video comp but am stuck trying to get fraps to attach itself to the smaller preview screen which sucks because obviously the resolution is super small.
Anyone have any ideas on what the issue may be?
Thanks!
Joel
