5.1.1 being bizarre with output going white with effects on or off

Soo since 5.1.1 ive noticed that sometimes when i turn on [or off] an effect it blanks the main screen to white. It appeared to not matter which effect was on/off'd and [this is going to sound weird but..] that if you had say 10 effects on then unmuted another it would go white but if you added another it would go back to normal - without mattering which effect you added or took away...
Saw this in Rottterdam last weekend [rvlt festival which was wkd btw] and since then on different machine in the Blue Mountain Club in Bristol.
Aanyway here is a video of a quick demonstration of a similar anomaly [presumably same cause i dunno] where if i turn on or off the distortion it goes white but if i do it with another layer playing.. it doesnt do it....

Should have mentioned running windows 10 with 980ti in the club and windows 7pro with 770m on laptop.
