Howdy,

Is it possible to view the effects on a clip in the preview screen?
If there is, please tell me!
No this isn't that urgent, but it would be nice to know.

Thanks!

My test results:

If you apply an FX to the Clip being previewed, it will show up in the preview window.

If you Blackout a layer and click on a clip to play it, then click the preview of the layer, you can preview the FX assigned to the layer.

I was unable to preview a composition FX as I can't preview the comp ;)

Try the big button that says Composition in the top left of the interface :)

Hah, nice to learn something new...

Though, I am a bit new to clicking that big button and don't understand how I can preview a composition FX when composition is live?

The only way to preview an effect on a clip, layer or the comp itself, is to fade it out, apply the effect and preview it.

Previewing an effect on the clip, layer or comp while said clip, layer or comp is live without the effect applied is not possible.

Layer router to the rescue!

create a new layer on top of your composition,
drag the effect you want to preview into an empty clip slot,
preview this new effect clip
select a layer for input of the effect clip and you see your playing layer + the effect applied.
then when finished you can drag the effect to your clip or layer or composition

You have to trigger the layer router in order to preview the effect so don't forget to turn the video opacity down to 0.
