this is the first time I write on this forum so thank you very much for welcoming me.

I have an issue with an animation I was asked to realize in resolume arena as I'm less than a basic user.

I have a very simple video of the sky that I need to put in the background and a png file with transparent background (the sun) to put in the foreground. The sun has to rise, move from left to right and set. I've done the movement with the X-Y control, but I have the issue that the sun is not in the foreground and you can clearly see the clouds of what is supposed to be the background video (the sky) appearing through it.

Is there any way to establish a layer or a clip as a background and another one as a foreground?

I kinda understood that it is possible to do something like that with masks, but it's not really clear to me how to change size and position of the mask according to the movement of the sun that I have realized in the other layer.

It sounds like you all have to do is put your sun clip with the transparent background on the top layer, choose Add as the blend mode and crank up the opacity to 100%.

IMO the Sun should be behind the clouds, if you want it to look like real life.
And there is the problem, that when the Sun is near the horizon, the sky is not blue.
You could achieve that with a solid color and a vignette effect resized on the very top layer, with animated opacity.

That said, your foreground layer should be on top of the background.
I personally like to use Alpha blend on layers with 100% opacity, for foreground layers.
You can do basic masking with the Crop effect you can find in the effects list.
If you animated your clip to move, you can put the crop on the layer and it will stay in place.
