How to control two laptops with a Midi Controller?

Hi!
I have been trying to control my two laptops (with both Resolume Arena 4.2.2) with a BCF2000 (usb/midi controller) and an IconnectMidi. So Laptop "A" would be connected through usb and the Midi Out of the BCF would pass tru the Iconnect then connected to my laptop "B" with a usb end. Both my laptop will recongnize either BCF and the Iconnect, but I can only control by the usb direct connect.
Anybody can help with their setup? I need to find an easy way to run 2 compositions at the same time to get an safe backup running.
Im willing to buy another midi controller like the Akai Professional MPD18 Compact Pad Controller, or the Akai Professional LPD8. I only want to trigger the columns almost, so i dont need a complex controller.
Thanks in advance!
Valerie
