Questions about BlackMagic Intensity Pro 4K setup

Hi,

I am willing to buy the BlackMagic Intensity Pro 4K -capture card, but there are still a few things which I am confused about. My setup will a following:

Main Computer (Windows10), which have BlackMagic Intensity Pro 4k, running Resolume Arena 6.
Second computer (windows10), running a realtime visualisation software, of which screen I want capture to the Arena. I will use HDMI cable between computers.

1. Which computer thinks that it has two monitors? - The second computer which is sending the video or the main computer which is receiving that. I am now thinking about options for Windows Display settings.

2. Can I extend my second computers screen or is mirroring the only option?

3. Do I need Blackmagics own software to make things work or will Resolume recognize video input immediately.

- Thanks for a great software and a community!

The second computer since the capture will be seen as an output.
2. Can I extend my second computers screen or is mirroring the only option?
Of course you can extend to the capture card.
3. Do I need Blackmagics own software to make things work or will Resolume recognize video input immediately.
My recommendation would be to install the latest blackmagic software (Desktop Video 10.9.7) and make sure your intensity pro 4k is updated to the latest firmware.

As an alternative and assuming you own Arena 5, you might want to test Arena 6 with NDI and a 1G wired network. If your vizualer doesn't support NDI, you could always plug a second monitor to get the full screen and use Newtek NDI Scan Converter.

Ouh man, I tried Newtek NDI Scan Converter and it felt magic. It really is game-changer for Window users.
I have searched this kind of solution for a long time. I have tried Spout and dreamed about Apples Syphon, but they haven´t help me.

Thanks for good answers!

Have you had time to play with Newtek NDI Scan Converter?
Because it works perfectly between two computers, but if I try send video inside one computer, it comes really unstable. Or I could even say that it don´t work. What is weird because software don´t forbid that at the first point.

Yes, and it works perfectly on my end. I get about 15-20ms latency but it's very fluid.

Then I have to keep on testing! But it still looks really promising.

The NDI protocol has some quirks that it will resort to your Wifi connection to send and receive, even when you have a wired connection available. It's best to disable all network adapters aside from the one you want to use.
