Hiding source of layer routing in same output

Hi, just want to start with a big thanks to all contributors on the forum - a lot of great answers!

Anyhow I have a question in mind and couldn't figure it out or find an answer here on the forum:

I am using two layers, where the top layer is a routing of bottom layer. What I have problem with is using the information from bottom layer, but hiding it from my output. I could go about it with advanced output, and just slice top layer as my output, but Id rather find away around it.

My setup implies that I need to switch around in decks and have a maximum of 5 layers.

Am I missing some elementary?

Choose layer 1 as input, uncheck [layer opacity] and bring layer 1 opacity down to 0.

Thank you! It is also important to use the actual layer in the drop-down menu, because it didn't work with the option layers below.

Thank you so much again!

Yes, the layers below option uses the texture that is rendered before/below the layer router's layer.
When you turn the opacity of the layers below down, they render transparent, so the layer router will use a transparent input.
