Pixelmap and choppy slowmo video

Hi Guys, nice to meet you all here. I'm pretty new to Arena (first post) but learning my way though it. I'm using Arena 6.
Now i'm in a project where I need to pixelmap video content and graphic content. All harware setup, artnet etc. are fine. Really no problems here. Now I'm playing video's on this installation and the director wants to play them really slow. I mean Reeaaallly Ssllooow..
The best effect the director likes is just a graphic image zoomed in and sloowly spinning.. So you wont recognize the image and see only a kind of moving colorscape across the installation. Speed is then about 0.005. So very slow..
Now when I play a video that way it obviously gets very choppy becourse of the low framerate.
I worked earlier with Coolux, and there you could put on "smooth playback" wich did this smoothing thing very good for you. Reason I moved to Arena is the live aspect and the better pixelmap features, Coolux is really timeline orientated and I want to be live in control.
My question is: how to fill these "missing" frames in the video or how to smoothen the difference between the frames so its start to get organic again? Is there a specific effect for this to remove the choppy playback at low speeds?
Love to hear your thoughts!!

Doesn't always work out but when I want to do similar things on my setup I use the freeze effect. There's a preset in Arena5 called Stop and Fade. Basically just add the freeze effect, click the frozen solid checkbox, and then adjust the opacity to taste.
I'm going to guess this won't work so much for your situation, but it's worth a try. Also, the blur effect helps a lot of things too. Especially in the pixelmap world.

Try the trails effect.
Won't be as smooth as real frame blended slow motion render, but it can give you some nice results.

Re-render in After Effects using
Timewarp or even better use a
Twixtor Pro to slow down your clips. For extreme cases, you might need to resort to rotoscoping in order to create moving mattes but that's a whole other ball game.
Take a look at the video on this
link.

When its just for Art then you may dont need your videofiles at all and can use the intern sources R6 give you. I mean like Lines / Solid coulor / etc. and some effects / videowall / trails / edge detection / radar, and all the others...
These are generated stuff and you can use it as slow as you need without stuttering.
You can do awsome stuff with just the effects & sources
Old Version but most of the stuff should still work:

Thanks for all suggestions and help! I ended up using Twixtor to create verrrry nice slow movements.
I also tried to use the internal recources as suggested but could not slow them down more than towards 0.01 on the speed parameter wich is for this purpose way to fast.

Another thing wich I'm searching a solution for though is still open: How to color (e.g. with 3 faders or knobs, Red, Green and Blue) the output of the pixelmap. I want to change the color on the fly of the content played or, when all knobs are at 0, the original color is shown.
I tried to use the colorize effect on the composition dash, location is great, you can really control all output but can't get it working right.. not sure which blend mode to select though..
Anyone thoughts on this?

Select your color mode (Pick, HSB, RGB, or Palette) and then use the opacity slider to fade it in or out so that you can go back to the original color. Alpha blend will probably give you the smoothest transition.

Another way of creating a very slow rotation of a still image is to set the rotation to follow "Clip position" and then set the clip duration to a long time. For example setting it to 60s would give you one revolution of the image per minute. 3600s gives you one revolution per hour!
Of course this is useless if you're already using the clip duration as part of an awesome "auto-pilot" system.

Great! Thanks for that last suggestion. I can really now wiggle around in the "colourpicker" with my knobs and add a bit of it with the opacity. Supperb. Thanks so much. I really do have a happy artist here
