Morgan Multimedia M-JPEG codec v3.0.0.9 :: dmb1 and mjpg

I am going to do lots of converting to M-JPEG format.

I have been trying to decide if I should start using Morgan Multimedia M-JPEG codec v3.0.0.9 or PICVideo M-JPEG 3 Codec v3.0.0.12.

Because of few posts I read from forum and noticed that the moderators are also using Morgan's M-JPEG codec I decided to go with that one.

I also noticed slightly faster compression rate when comparing Morgan and PICVideo when I did some tests.

In VirtualDub when I compressed some clips I noticed there are two different kinds of FOURCC codes available dmb1 and mjpg.

Can anyone explain that are the differences in these selections and in which format I should encode all my cliips.

Thanks in beforehands,
Toni

I mean that in which FOURCC format I should convert all the clips?

as far i know - its only FOURCC code, compression mode is the same in both cases.. i suggest you to use "mjpg" (compatibility with other mjpg codecs, etc)

Thanks, that's what I was thinking after reading few web pages. Anyways can anyone recommend me that which codec I should use Morgan Multimedia M-JPEG codec v3.0.0.9 or PICVideo M-JPEG 3 Codec v3.0.0.12?

Which one is better?

I'd like to know if there's a significant difference between them.

I started with (and still use) quicktime mjpeg cos it was free, and even though it's old i can get full speed with 3 layers anyway. But if one's a lot better I'd like to know.

Remember it's the very fact they are MJPEG which gives the biggest benefit - you wouldn't be dissapointed either way.
