I am not doing any rotating. When position clip, what is difference between Transform Position X/Y vs Anchor X/Y?

For example, manual says

Scale - Scale the surface that the clip is drawn on in the output.

Why does "scale" say "surface that the clip is drawn on in the output" instead of just saying scale the clip? Does "surface" has some extra meaning?

Position X/Y says move clip. Anchor X/Y says move "surface". What is "surface"?

What is difference between Transform Position X/Y vs Transform Anchor X/Y?

You're getting into a nonsense mess, nevermind the surface word, is nothing behind it.
Anchor point like everywhere (boats, sound mixes, etc), is literally an anchor point.
If the world do not explain by itself to you, think about 'center'.
If you move your image (your surface) from anchor point, then when you scale or rotate it will do it from that point.
