Mapping a knob to control the beat count

Hi, I'm here cause I can't find a solution for what I'm tring to achieve and I tought that you guys have one for sur.
Currently I'm controlling the beat count of my effect by mapping 2 midi button, one for *2 and one for /2 since i'm only using 1/2/4/8 beats.
I would like to have a visual way on my controller to know on each parameter what beat count it's using.
I tought to map a knob with only 4 values on it (it's a novation control xl, I use the midi mapper software to set the range value to 4) then when I map the knob to the effect, it give me number with decimal, so the beat count are not in sync...
How would you do to have control on the beat count through a knob with only the 1/2/4 and 8 values ?
