How to Syncronize Multiple Outputs/Screens ?

hi,
say i have 4 screens set up in a circle.

how do i do syncronize the images going to them all so that i can do the following:

1. make the screens have a christmas-lights-like effect,
and have illusion that the image or "light" is shooting around the screens,
and have control over speeding up or slowing down of "movement",
and have control over it going clockwise or counter clockwise,
and have control over which colors/images are being flashed

same technique should also be able to do following:

2. take a video of a plane flying and make it feel to viewer that plane is flying around to each screen. and again have control over speed, image or layer, and direction.

i am stumped. i know software can be networked to multiple computer and have many outputs, but before i invested in that i wanted to know if my ideas can be implemented.

any suggestions would be great.

thanks!

1 xmas lights, video tape some xmas lights, or use the christmas ball freeframe effect
image or "light" huh??
control over speeding up.. you can change the frame rate in resolume
CWor CCW.. use the panzoomspin freeframe plugin
colors/images.... make your footage that colour, or you could use the colour warp free frame plugin

2. take a video of a plane flying and make it feel to viewer that plane is flying around to each screen. and again have control over speed, image or layer, and direction.

get a hardware midi sequencer and make it all stay intime with midi.

we are also doing panorama videos for events. we create a huge videopanorama in after effects with a video resolution, for example 4 times pal. then render each of the 4 parts. now we are doing this with synchronised dvd player. but this is very unflexible, cause you have to programm the show before, and cant do any changes.
so my question: is it possible to run resolume on 4 computers and use 1 midi control, to start all the video at the same time (all computers with the same midi settings), and stay synchronised ?

i know tthere are special video servers with special software to do this, but these solutions are very expensive. would be nice to do this with resolume.

does resolume supports midiclock, to keep the videos synchronised ?

Hi All,

Boris, i think the best thing is to use two computers both running resolume and set them up to control two screens. Screen1: Comp1 Layer1, Screen2: Comp1 Layer2 etc... Use the Screen setup to direct the correct layers to the different screens (advanced setup).

Then trigger your clips with midi, use one controller and split the signal to two computers. It all depends on how you make your clips how fluently this will work. You can get a pretty good sink if the computers have the same specs and if you trigger them with midi.

We are woking on synchronization, we might start supporting midiclock in the future.
We allready did some tests and it seems to work quite nice.
But we will need some time to get this working properly, any more suggestions according synchronization?

if i use the keyboard for control, i can use the shift funktion to control the fuktions for all layers at once. is there a simular midicontrol for the shift function ?
