Envelop – Ability to pause at the end

I’ve been using the envelop feature extensively to program shows and I would love to have the ability to pause at the end when I use as a still. Right now, I’m able to model my keyframes based on the assigned duration but the problem is that at the end of the duration, It loops back to the beginning.

Right now I have to add an auto pilot to play another clip that is the final state of the keyframed still which is cumbersome so having the option to pause at the end of the envelop Or having a pause keyframe that could be assigned to a shortcut Or both would be great!

Set the Timeline driving the envelope to Play Once.

Thanks Joris but what I need is the ability to do it using the Clip Position + Envelop so unless I'm missing something, I don't believe there is an option to play once.

For instance, I'm working on a show where I have a sunset that takes 12.5 minutes to go from start to finish during a short intermission and everything is built using Bright.Contrast, Saturation and Add/Subtract effects. I set the duration of the clip to 1500s and drive all the parameters and their associated keyframes with envelops but at the end of the 1500 seconds, it goes right back to zero and start the envelop timeline again.

Got ya.

The envelope is really a modifier for whatever input drives it, so it doesn't have a speed, duration or play/pause of its own.

So what you're looking for is either playback controls for stills, which sounds silly but makes sense in these type of scenarios. Or a way to set duration for Timeline parameters, ideally from a single master value.

Does that sound about right?

Makes sense to me.

If you take a still
That moves and fades over time
Is it still a still

YES! The ability to work with stills in real time is actually something very useful and I believe is available in most timeline-based media servers such as Watchout and 3d by dropping the clip in the timeline and using key frames or tween tracks.

Well....if you take a chair and move it across the room, is it still an object while it's moving? ;)

What about the Autopilot (Play next clip) after the Still Sunset ?

I´m pretty sure you allready thought about but maybe not =)

Yeah that's what I do but it does complicate the process when you're keyframing a lot of parameters because when I make adjustments I have to make sure I update all the various parameters in the clip that is the final state of my animation.

It works great with movie clips because I can set the timeline to pause on the last frame so all I need is the ability to have an automatic pause at the end of the envelop animation for a still with a set duration.

A transport menu with a timeline that correspond to the duration of the still would be excellent!
