Screen swaping and Low FPS

Hey everyone,

i'm using:

Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming Box
Windows 10
on small Laptop Lenovo Carbon i7 16 GB Ram
Resolume Arena 5

I've got 3 screens mapped through den DP, Hdmi and DVI ports of the eGpu

Problem the 1:
From time to time it seems like resolume rearranges the screen, they flicker and sometimes 1 = 2 or 3=4 so i have the rearrange them in mapping, also die preview window goes white, i still got the output but no preview anywhere. Any Ideas who might be responisble? it happen in idle mode also, nor GPU, CPU, Ram or harddrive seem to be on limit as far as i can tell.

Problem the 2:
I'm trying to use a lot of alpha channeld loops in this project and since the Dxv codec is not working any more i am using Quicktime Animation
I know the files are large, but even with one oder two i'm getting really low FPS with my 3 screens setup (like 12) without the 3 screen 60fps

Any help ot tips?
thx very much

eGPU's are something I haven't had any experience with. I have friends who use them for C4D rendering, and it's flakey at best for them.

Hopefully someone else on here has had some experience with eGPU's. My guess would be that maybe there's a driver issue (what 99% of the problems with my friends eGPU's are).

I use the Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming Box extensively and have had absolutely no issues over the past 6 months.

If Resolume rearranges your screens it's probably because you have a loose connection somewhere and the screens are being refreshed by your computer so I would check all the connections.

A few things to keep in mind with the eGPU:
  • are you using the cable that came with Aorus box? You might have a faulty cable so I would try to buy another high end one. I personally use the Nekteck Active Thunderbolt 3 (40Gbps) cables
  • make sure you don't connect anything (USB, charging devices) to your gaming box
  • don't daisy chain TB3 devices
  • make sure you've got the most current nVidia drivers
  • adjust your 3D settings so that Resolume (comes up as Total War) always uses the nVidia GPU and not the integrated GPU
Have you tried with DXV content to see if you have any issues.

thx for the tipps
yes seems like a connection error

dxv sadly is not working for me now, cause i can't get the alpha channel

do you know of any limitations of the different video outputs of the card? like mixing dvi and dp ?

What do you mean by “DXV is not working”?

Nvidia cards are limited to four outputs even though some cards have five connectors. It can be any combination of Displayport, HDMI or DVI.

Sorry, i was unclear. the dxv export in Prem or AE is notworking for me, since i need alpha channels in my project.

i noticed the frame rate seems to be capped at 20fps
i got a 2 and a 3 projectors set up, small ones acer p5530
they work at 1080i and only 30Hz, if i switch them to the not nativ 1080p they go up to 60Hz, but the picture turns blue :)
i', just trying to figure out if this is an issue of the egpu or the projector...

thx for alle the answers

Alpha 100% works, make sure you have the right channels enabled and also you have enabled the right codec settings. If other codecs work with alpha but not DXV i assume you haven't clicked codec settings. The picture below shows AE.

thx for the answer, the problem was due dropped support by adobe, but i got it now. still low fps though, capped at 20, even with dxv
