Input guide in preview monitor

Would be cool feature to be able to put an adjustable opacity pixelmap in the preview monitor 
I export the input guide as an svg from the advanced output setup page. Then open this in illustrator and convert to a png. I then create a new layer at the top of my composition and drop the png in there as a guide.
Yeah, would be awesome if this was automated!
