ArtNet Input on OS X

Hi,

I'm very new to Resolume. It's amazing. I want to sell all my other gear and buy projectors... But that's not why I'm posting.

I'm running: 2018 macbook pro. OS X 10.14.6. Arena 7.0.5 rev67117. SoundSwitch 2.1 build 207

I'm trying to send DMX information from SoundSwitch to Resolume, to modulate video color based on the light show.

I have been able to get this running when I run Resolume and SoundSwitch on a two computers, but when I run them on the same computer I have not been able to get them to talk to each other.

SoundSwitch can see that Arena has an ArtNet input, when I set Arena's input to use the wifi or the wired ethernet. When I set Resolume to use the loopback IP, SoundSwitch detects it for a moment, then it vanishes. I think that this may be because of some sort of handshake that Resolume is expecting to happen, but it does not.

Before you suggest it... I have read this page:
https://resolume.com/support/en/dmx-sho ... -dmx-input

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this working without adding another computer into the mix?

Thanks!

Try starting Resolume first, and SoundSwich second

If it doesn't work, you might need two computers to do it, as only one program can open a specific port at a time.

Thanks Zoltan,

I neglected to mention that I have been able to get ArtNet data into Resolume when using two networked computers.

For the loopback attempt, I tried starting Resolume first. Then I tried starting SoundSwitch first.

Neither configuration allowed the data to get sent into resolume.

It seems like ArtNet plays nicer on Windows. Perhaps I will check all of this on my windows desktop to see if it works there, then maybe look at bootcamp options if it does.

Anyway, thanks for the reply!

Yes, with two separate machines this should be no problem to get working.
The issue with a single OS is that both programs try to bind to the same port for listening.

You should be able to get this working on a single machine using the native OS, plus a virtual machine.
