Mirror X doesn't flip polygons.

Post by RubinReality »

In the Advanced output of Resolume Arena using Mirror X or Mirror Y on polygons merely moves them but does not flip the points of the polygon.

I am able to get the desired results by mirroring the polygons, copying the width or height of each individual polygon, Alt dragging them to flip them, then pasting in the original width/height. However, I think mirroring should be doing this automatically.

I see how you could expect Mirror X flipping the slice geometry.

Mirror in the Advanced output doesn't flip slices currently, it only translates the slices to the other side of the canvas. This is a feature designed to allow you easy, mirrored placement of your slices.

Using ALT +drag is what I'd also recommend to use to flip the content.

Thanks for your reply.

The current Mirror X functionality is mostly sufficient for rectangular slices but for a large number of Polygons it requires a lot of fiddly work to get a symmetric result.

Ideally, I think it should be possible to map out one half of the stage, duplicate the Polygons and Mirror them to fill in the other half. At the moment there is a lot more to do after the mirroring to create a symmetrical result.

I cant believe this is still not a thing.. I now have to manually redo the entire thing on the other side of the stage. There goes another 60 polygons (for slicer) of manual work which should have been an easy copy-paste. PLEASE add this simple but time saving feature!! :geek:
Yeah don't worry! I put it on autopilot!

Make a new screen and set it's slice to get the input from the screen with the many polygons

A method to flip the polygon should indeed not be too hard. We can have a look at that of course.
Until then the easiest way would be:
- Create Your polygon slices
- Duplicate them, Select and then Command + D
- Choose Mirror X, duplicated slices are moved to other side of your screen
- Make sure you keep them all selected and use the right handle of the Transform and move it all the way to the left, slice will be transformed and your polygons will be mirrored
