nero video decoder codec

my avi files with nero video decoder codec are not wooking what can i do?
the nero video codec is the one for burning DVDs right? so it would be an mpeg2, between 2kb/s and 7kb/s, which is probably not a very good compresion ratio.
you might be better off trying the settings in the resolume manual, using the indeo 5.11 codec. thats what i use.
