i have two possibilities:

- Intel Pentium M740 1.73GHz 2MB L2 Cache, 533Mhz FSB
- Intel Mobile 915PM Express Chipset
1024MB DDR2 SDRAM
- Hitachi 100GB 5400rpm 2.5” SATA-harddrive & 8MB Cache
- Aopen ISU-8424E 8x4x8x DVD+/-R/RW
- 15” TFT, 1400x1050 SXGA+, 16M colors
- Nvidia Geforce Go 6600 MXM 128MB
- 3xUSB2.0, 1394 Firewire, VGA, S-Video

this is a bit cheaper model but i could get it with Intel Pentium M760 2.0 GHz processor for the same price as this model:

- Intel Pentium M755 2.0GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 400Mhz FSB
- Intel 855PM/ICH4-M Chipset, Intel Enhanced SpeedStep
- 1x1024MB PC-33 3 SO-DIMM
- Hitachi 5K100 100GB 5400rpm 2.5” hard drive & 8MB Cache
- Aopen ISU-8424E 8x4x8x DVD+/-R/RW
- 15” TFT, 1400x1050 SXGA+, 16M colors
- Ati M11 Radeon 9700 128MB DDR On-Chip
- 3xUSB2.0,1394 Firewire, VGA, S-Video

main difference concerning resolume would be the videocard? Nvidia or Ati Radeon - I understood that both should work with resolume?

would it be worth the extra 150 euros to buy the model with Pentium 760 (2.0 GHz) processor instead of Pentium M740 (1.73 GHz)?

i'd use external 7200 rpm lacie hd for clips.

Check out http://www.cclonline.com or http://www.acernotebooks.co.uk for ACER laptops, highly recommended especially the Aspire 5020 range

I got an Aspire 5024WLMi (1.8G Turion64, 512MBDDR333, 128MB ATiX700) and it gets 30fps with 3 layers, *before* I've even upped the RAM or added the external drive as I plan to.

today i'm gonna go to the store to test these laptops. if i get the one with nvidia card to operate ok with resolume, i might buy that one.

it has a bit newer chipset and processor and i've heard that nvidia might work better with avid, premiere and other 'professional' editing software. and avid has minimum requirement of 2 GHz processor for laptops so that helps the decision also. and i also like the casing more...

let me know if you come up with more plus or cons with these setups. i haven't decided yet and it's sooo difficult to decide how to spend all your hard earned (credit)money.

Clock speeds are misleading these days

The Turion 64 ML-34 clocks at 1.8GHz, however it is likely to perform equivalent to a Pentium @ 2.8/3GHz (this could be rubbish)

I'm not quite sure info is hard to find, all the companies are abandoning clock speed numbering systems these days. However I'm sure a Turion ML-34 can run an app that demands a 2GHz processor.
