Check out the Morgan Mjpeg codec, it compresses and decompresses very fast.
It's wotks really good with resolume and is fast in Premiere.
The only donwside is that the codec is not for free. But you can test for a while without limits.
indeo or cinepak work fine with resolume but Indeo is a bit slow and Cinepak is fast but has less quality.

Cheers
Edwin

Rendering takes as long as it takes - aside from codec choice it depends on the speed of your system. If you want faster rendering try...

Uprading your processor
Upping your RAM
Buying a faster hard drive (at least 72,000RPM)
or better yet buy a SECOND fast hard drive and use it only for rendering your clips
Even better than that would be a RAID array (google it)

There is also an MJPEG codec which comes with Quicktime as standard which I find works great and ensures easy compatibility with macs (I happen to VJ with a mac user)

Search the forum/site for info on encoding clips

You need to give us more info with regards to the freezing

sorry for beeing silly, but ...

mate, i would pay huge amounts of cash for a 72000rpm drive. so if you plan on getting one, take one for me too... ;) and maybe an anchor to avoid, that my computer gets airborne and flys away.... :P
