LED strip positioning

Let´s talk LED strips.
I wonder what the best physical layout would be if you run, say, up to 40ish LED strips. So far I´ve built a prototype with 16x 5m strips in parallel (ceiling mounted). LED density is 30/m which already looks nice. Strip distance is 15cm, which of course gives much less resolution.
Would you
a) add more strips in parallel / between the existing strips
b) add more strips perpendicular to existing strips, building a grid
Main effect is to have visible movement across the ceiling. It´s not so important to really show pics or videos, it´s more about adding depth to what is projected on the wall.
Don´t mention the alignment of segments, this will be taken care of once setup is finished
