Connection MacBook Pro and beamer failing, help!

Hi all,
I'm new to Resolume and VJ'ing and not technically well equiped, so I hope you can help me!
I have a very big opportunity to VJ this Saturday and I'm scared the connection between my MacBook Pro 15" 2019 and the projector will fail.
Last Thursday I had my first VJ gig, and every time I started charging, the connection between my laptop and the beamer was lost. The screen of the beamer would turn blue, only to slowly regain connection, but then showing my dekstop and not my Resolume output (I'd have to re-establish connection manually).
However, it later also randomly started doing that during the performance, and then it would also be fine after a few mins of disconnection.
I had bought a brand new USB-C to HDMI-adapter that day, the beamer is 3000+ euro and they hadn't had those problems before, or since. I had my MacBook Pro checked at the Apple Store and they told me it might be a problem of switching between internal and designated GPU.
Does anyone have experience with this problem? Do you think it would be enough to manually set the default GPU to designated, in my terminal (I googled how to)? Thanks so much in advance!
