[Problem is back] Wire freezes

From a working combo, I updated via the in-program dialog in Arena.

Now wire freezes as soon as I do a first click (like new patch, start a tutorial or load an existing patch).
Win10, latest updates installed.

I re-installed Arena from a fresh download, everything seemed fine for a moment, but as soon as I rearranged panels, the problem popped up again.

Renaming/deleting Wire.xml did not bring any change.

Any idea?

if you rename the wire folder to something like "Resolume Wire.old" and re-open it, what happens?

Renamed C:\Program Files\Resolume Wire to something else, I can still start it (wtf), behaviour is the same, it just becomes unresponsive.

Now that´s even odder.

Didn´t help much, so I completely uninstalled Arena, manually deleted all references in the Documents, Program Data and AppData folders, went thru the registry and finally let ccleaner check for any leftovers.

Fresh install.

Seems to work now.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the problems stay away.

Thanks for your support!

All you had to do was rename the documents wire folder and restart. the other folders don't hold your preferences.

There was an issue a while back where Wire and Arena where are 2 different versions, that has since been fixed I believe where you update everything at once, so that shouldn't have been the issue unless if this was an old installer?

Note taken, I will remember "just the docs folder" in case this pops up again :)

I may have missed an update in between, but the installed version that ran just fine was already using the combo installer IIRC.

Since we´re at it: Is there any description which folders are for what purpose? I wouldn´t be surprised if that´s somewhere in the documentation, but I haven´t read it A-Z as of today.

Do you still happen to have the old folder's content, so we could check it out?

Here is the folders list: https://resolume.com/support/en/directory-list
We probably need to update it with the Wire paths.

Sorry, I completely uninstalled everything resolume in the process (overkill that was) as described (registry etc), so the things I only renamed at first were deleted (not just put to trash) as well.

I will try to recreate the issue with wire. If I can reproduce the freeze, I´ll let you know.

OK, the problem is back again. Tried a few things, maybe this helps in getting the trouble shot

Here is what I do:

- Deleted the C:\users\c00kie\Documents\Resolume Wire folder for a clean start
- open the first tutorial ("nodes")
- click on "circle" node - white circle is shown in monitor frame
- drag the "monitor" frame to my right physical display
- watch task manager, a second process is created
- white circle is not shown in "monitor" (2nd wire process) any more, although its node is still highlighted in the "main" window.
- I can still click other nodes and highlight them
- When I, for example, click in the library collection, both processes become unresponsive.

Aftermath:
- without deleting the doc folder, restart wire
- wire remembers the monitor frame position on the 2nd physical display
- as soon as I select the first tutorial, wire freezes
- killing processes again
- deleting the doc folder
- load tutorial, everything is fine
- drag and drop the monitor frame
- freeze

Interesting behaviour:
- reset Wire as described above
- drag the whole wire window to the right display
- tutorial 1 seems to be ok
- close wire with window still on the right display
- start wire again, window appears on the right display
- freeze

More interesting:
- do the same but move the wire window to the left physical display, same behaviour.
- same for moving just the monitor frame to the left window.
- Seems I´m only save when keeping Wire on the middle display.

Setup:
Windows 10 Enterprise 21H1, latest patchlevel
Displays are seen as
left = 1
middle = 2
right = 3

Middle is the main window, desktop extends to 1 and 3
