Pixel Map update

Hey there,

Wondering if there was a world where we get a rework of the Pixel Map feature?

Looking for:
  • 16bit fixtures
    Complex shapes
    Fixture grouping
    Individual fixture color mastering
Thanks!

What do you mean? Pixel Maps don't have fixtures.

A pixel map is a raster that contains individual cells/diodes, strips of diodes with individual addressing, moving lights or fixed lights with rgb/cmy parameters, which are fixtures, on a map, with video played over them. The RGB data values from the video arrive on the fixture. Pixel maps have fixtures. There is an actual menu drop down in the "Advanced Output" to add "DMX Fixture".

No a lighting chart has fixtures. A pixel map has video slices, X/Y offsets and slice resolution and naming information. You can map fixtures in Arena's advanced output, but that's not what a pixel map is.

I believe there has been a few other requests for complex shapes and 16 bit fixture support.

What do you mean by individual color masters? in Advanced Output you can adjust the RGB values of each individual fixture.

You and I will have to agree to disagree on what a Pixel Map is. Clearly we operate in different worlds and I'll keep what hair I have left.

You are correct in that there is rgb mastering for dmx fixtures, but it would be great if we could record fixtures as groups to make this process faster.

Still need 16bit parameters and complex shapes.

@Jambalob - can you elaborate on the complex shapes? I might be in the "+1" camp with you but I want to understand what your ask is there.

If a lighting fixture has a circular array of LEDs. Or an arch. Or an S shape. I work in film production and it's entirely possible we have LED tape designed in particular patterns that are not just bricks or straight lines.

I know what you mean, I’d do it in vvvv, but I’d guess that touch designer or pixel mad would do the same. Not sure I’ve come across a pixel controller that does 16bit per channel, but in vvvv it would be possible to use 2 channels to make 16bit DMx, I’ve used it for Rgb strip controllers, but not pixels
