Not sure of this has been requested before, or maybe is actually exists....

It would be great if OSC addressing supported custom names.
For example being able to target layers by their custom name: /composition/mylayername/opacity....

This would be great as it means things could be moved around... it would also the. Be easy to create stuff for other VJs to include in their shows (for example just name a groups "x" )

This would be a huge advantage, the amount of times I've wanted to add a layer or column or group but didn't because it would put mapping out of whack.

I understand there would be issues with the same name being used.
MA2 has a similar feature with Macros, and if there are more than one by the same name it will just use what ever it gets to first.

I mean more specifically for OSC input, and not something you need to manually create but it just references the object by name directly.

Custom input addressing would be very helpful too though.

Ah great, I missed that one.
You're midi suggestion is a good work around for dealing with re-organising a comp and keeping things linked properly.

I've got a show I want to send out and make it easy for other VJs to incorporate without forcing them to use a full custom comp.
With named OSC commands I could simply give them the clips and they just add a group named "ShowContent" to their comp and everything in that can be targeted, no matter how many layers etc they have.

Then I can set up our systems to send the OSC commands and they can still VJ as normal with their stuff
