DMX bypass (question already asked)

I believe that this topic has already been addressed here, but want to confirm that nothing has changed since then
https://resolume.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=82399

basically trying to switch between:
  • sending DMX pixel mapping based on Resolume composition
and
  • forwarding external artnet DMX to pixels
A friend of mine wants to be able to switch the control source for around 100 LEDs between SoundSwitch and Resolume (using DMX).

Perhaps there is a plugin that generates an array of squares with R/G/B mappable values for each square? Then each pixel on that could be controlled by incoming artnet and resolume would make that into a video and use the video to regenerate the Artnet to be sent to the LEDs.

It would probably be easier to just use a DMX switcher that is controllable by DMX.

Thanks!

Set the fixtures to HTP DMX mode, send black from Resolume and send the colors from your other app.

Or check the DMX helper Wire patch here http://palffyzoltan.hu/index.php?url=programs and control the params via DMX.

Oh, wow!

Thank you!

That plugin is amazing!

It lets you resolume to record and play back perfectly synced audio, video and dmx!?!

That would have so easily solved many problems I've encountered.

Not really sure what you mean?

Well your plugin has essentially enabled you to generate a video based on incoming DMX.

So for instance let's say I had a timecoded DMX show that followed a music video using SoundSwitch and Serato.

You could load the music video in serato and the open your DMX show in SoundSwitch.

Spout can grab the audio and video from the music video and bring it into resolume

Your plugin can convert the incoming DMX into a video.

So if the audio, video, and DMX are all in sync, then recording them into resolume would capture all three types of data into one video clip.

Then when you play back that video clip from Resolume with the audio and video, it would play your entire show without the need for two additional types of software.

At least that's how it seems. I need to update resolume to actually use your plugin, so I can't verify that it would work, but it seems that way.

ok, you mean mapping the plugin's params to DMX, and then recording that.
Yeah, that would probably work, but if you need to change anything, you'd need to assemble the original setup, and record it again.

Well the alternatives I can think of for synchronized audio + video + lighting from one box are to use Resolume to play back the audio and video and send timecode to a lighting desk, or use something like Denon Prime + SoundSwitch + Resolume to play all 3 sources in sync from different programs

Or CDJs + Showkontrol, which is like $1000 and requires a ton of setup.

Or use some sort of dedicated cue software for theater.

Anyway, it's awesome that resolume outputs DMX, and it's really cool that there is a way to (sort of) record it in.

You're absolutely right though, just having resolume send black and setting the pixel controller to highest is the simplest way to achieve this. I do not know what pixel controller the person who asked me about this will be using, but presumably it can do that.

Thanks!

If you'd have a CDJ playing tracks, (Pioneer Bridge app is free)
You could assign the tracks to the helper clips, set the duration and TC, and set the parameters to Clip position automation, and add envelopes to animate the values. That will play automated without rendering out stuff.

Oh wow... I've been out of the loop.

I had no idea that feature had been added (6 months ago). Yet another reason to upgrade my license!

That's great. Thank you!
