Effects Workflow with Midi

Hi!
Just wondering if anyone has tips/tricks for effects workflows with midi controllers.
I am trying to replicate something similar to a DJ mixer where I can quickly engage effects and tweak parameters before disengaging them. Ideally without using a mouse.
EDIT: At the moment, I've assigned a few effects to each layer, and have a single switch to bypass each effect individually. I've then assigned a single fader to control all of the effects opacity. So the fader essentially acts like a wet/dry feature for the layer. Seems to be a good start!
