What footage resolution should I buy?

What's the standard procedure you use to determine what footage you buy? I am not performing anytime soon except for house guests. I have a 768p projector that I use for my own entertainment, but should I buy footage for this resolution or should I future proof with 1080 or 4k? I know I can up and down scale based on output resolution. Just looking for some feedback on this thought.

1080p is fine ... You will probably not need 4k any time soon..... ;) Save the money.

The standard procedure for determining what footage to buy is to first consider the resolution of the output device. If you are using a 768p projector, you should buy footage that is at least 768p in resolution or higher, as it can be downscaled to fit the projector's resolution. If you want to future-proof your purchase, then you should buy footage that is at least 1080p or 4k in resolution, as it can be upscaled to fit the projector's resolution.
