Pentium 4, penitum M and SSE3

Hi,
As mentioned before, trying to get a lappy mainly for resolume but maybe also for osx86.
I'm planning to ge intel though.
I've compared performance on a number of reviews and it seems that in some tasks (even strictly processor power) notebook P4 are slower than P-Ms, but in others it's otherwise.
How does it work with resolume?
Does it use SSE3 instrucions, that are not present in P-M?
Anyone had a chance to compare P 4 and P-M (533 FSB models) performance?
