NDI stream to Capture issue solved

I experienced an issue when sending NDI streaming data to the Capture Visualizer via a network. Both computers were on the correct network and showed a connection, however the NDI data from Resolume was not showing up in the Media section on Capture. I tried everything I could find online to solve this issue to no avail. The solution I found is below:

On the computer running Capture (in my case a PC running windows 10)
1.open Network and Sharing Center
2.open 'Change advanced sharing settings' - left hand column
3. open the 'All Networks' section
4. Under Media Streaming - click on 'Choose media streaming options...'
5. Allow access

This was the only solution I could find. I did also follow resolume's guidance and disable the Wifi Adapter on the computer sending the NDI signal.

Guess I posted that too quickly. For absolutely no reason, the capture side stopped receiving NDI data. I really though I had this figured out. Anyone have any advice on network setting that may be contributing to my issue?

DISREGARD THIS POST. SOLUTION ABOVE WORKS.

Are you sending or receiving in Resolume?
Which app is the Capture Visualizer?

Figured it out!!

My first post regarding the media sharing settings works. The only thing you need to watch is that each time you rejoin the network, you need to TURN ON MEDIA SHARING. For some reason it defaults back to the media sharing being disabled each time the network is rejoined.

In response to Zoltan, I am sending NDI data from Resolume via a local network to the Capture Visualizer.

Don't forget to setup manual metrics for your adapters when using NDI or that can throw a wrench in things really quick. Not sure if you knew about that or now, so I figured it was worth mentioning. :)

Arvol,

What are manual metrics? Can you please explain?

I haven't had any issues since figuring out the media sharing setting, but I am curious what you are talking about in case I encounter it in the future.

Set your desired NIC to a manual Metric of 1,
Then set the rest of your NIC's to a manual Metric of 8000. This will give priority to the lowest numbered Metric and NDI will follow that path first. This is only needed if you use multiple NIC's at once (ie. hardwired and wifi at the same time, or multiple hardwired)

HI, not sure if this is related to the issue you have but I am running Resolume and capture currently on the same computer and every time I enable the main output I loose all but the composition NDI stream. I currently have 18 slices going out over NDI which disappear in capture. I also have OBS running on another computer and that too looses all the NDI inputs when Resolumes main output is enables.

Are you switching to Full screeen/windowed output?
That will disable the advanced output.

Yes, switching to full screen. So I guess that means you can not output NDI at the same time as the physical GPU.
