APC40 MKII - no button lights

My new APC40's buttons do not light up. I was able to map the 8 across 5 down grid of buttons to videos in Resolume by selecting 'edit MIDI' from the Shortcuts menu. I've selected the 'APC 40 MK II' as my controller using its default settings. And I've mapped the APC40 buttons to my grid of video cells. I then hit 'stop' in the shortcuts menu, and the APC40 happily triggers the start of videos.

However... there are absolutely no lights on the APC40 indicating which buttons have videos mapped to them, no light indicating the currently playing video etc.

What is this newbie (me) doing wrong?

APC output enabled in midi preferences, and
Midi output device selected as the APC in the shortcut?

I did all combinations of midi prefs... nothing worked. So I did it again and now it does. Very weird.

Okay... next problem:

NOW, my composition window has a checkerboard pattern. You can faintly/darkly see the video. It's as if the opacity slider is in the wrong position or the blend mode is off. The preview monitor is bright and perfect. It's just the composition window that is now very dark and checkerboarded for ALL the clips I trigger.

Any ideas?

Could you please send us the Resolume log file via the feedback tab in preferences?
Thanks!

It turned out to be the 'master' fader on the APC40 turned down to about 30%. TOLD YOU I WAS A NEWBIE!!!

My next conundrum: trying to figure out why on the APC40 the currently playing video clip is pink... but sometimes not. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to what color the lit buttons are at times. Sometimes it works... sometimes it don't.

The shortcuts have a setting for the output velocities, which define the colors.
Clip trigger has 5 colors depending on the clip state, if you preview the clip, that will change the color too.

If you have multiple shortcuts pointing to the same button, these shorctus might have different velocities set up, and would then colorize differently.
