Hardware gamepads (joysticks etc) as controller for Arena

Hello,
Beginner Resolume Arena user and visual artist here.
I have a question for a live visual setup, concerning older controllers.
For my live visuals, I run a bunch of analog gear and digital up and down the wires, but for the live performance, I would love to have some visual gimmicks. I have nice MIDI controllers; APC40 mk2, Korg nanokontrol 2 and some Arturia stuff, BUT I would love to have cheesy live gimmicks as older hardware gamepads, joysticks, etc.
Is there a good way to map old analog gamepads/controllers to control parameters in Resolume? Excuse my ignorance, I'm here to learn!
Cheers!

hi that's definitely possible but you'll need to have some software to translate the game control commands into midi, OSC, or you could even make them into keystrokes. If you have that, then you can assign them to shortcuts. There is a lot of different software that can do the transition. The first ones I found on Google:
https://controllerlab.io/
https://miditrol.com/
But there are many more, really depending on your needs, machine and maybe wallet
Hope this gets you going

Certainly! You can use a software like JoyToKey to map the buttons and joysticks of old gamepads to keyboard inputs, and then map those keyboard inputs to control parameters in Resolume. This way, you can integrate your old analog gamepads/controllers into your live visual setup. Good luck with your live performance!

I've used Chataigne for this a few years back. worked great. Converted a rockband guitar into osc
