I'm new to VJing and have a basic question about conversion of files from archive.org. I'm on a G4 Mac, so I'm choosing VCD as my download format. Then I'm opening the mpg file in Quicktime Pro 6.0 and exporting it it to avi format so that I can cut out smaller clips in premiere (or quicktime). What is the best compression setting for these movies if the ultimate goal is VJing? I'm an experienced flash user and am also curious to know basic setting for publishing from flash mx to the big screen. thanks!!!

if you are downloading in VCD format, then want to convert to avi for editing and recompressing, you should 1st convert from VCD to uncompressed avi (if you have room), then edit in premiere (i would suggest output ligos indeo avi from premiere).
That way you are not compressing your clips twice, as each time you compress a clip, you lose a little more detail and quality.
If you are using flash - just export a flash movie - works fine in resolume.
