So guys whats your expierence using Egpus so far?

I have a really cheap low power sonnet rx570 one just to give a 13" macbook pro helping hand.
Really just got it to give capture visualizer a boost, but have tested with resolume and you can really tell it's there.
TLDR. There is for sure an improvement but less on an improvement over same gpu "properly" installed into a pc.
Think same as a rtx3060 is not the same as an rtx3060m. There is some loss but an improvement on nothing.

For years I was the LED tech on a worldwide broadcast live show, where my mate operated vdmx on a trashintosh with thunderbolt case for egpu and pcie capture card. The biggest issues I saw was him having to sometimes disconnect and reconnect the thunderbolt cable after booting if it wasnt working right but once that was done, zero issues and completely stable.

I've seen 3 major festivals crash and burn because of a VJ using these.

But why? I mean as 4 extra outputs doing the processing in the laptop gpu works fins I also tried a rtx 3090 on egpu and worked fine until I did nvidia surround then the frame rate went down. Im talking about this cause I am moving to another country and I need something really for mobility

Because the cable is small and flimsy and nothing keeps it locked in, and when it comes out, OS's don't like that and crashes.

I mean unplugging it its something and the device failing another

The bass from the events rattled the connection loose.
