I'm doing some test with the resolume,
my laptop only has the firewire video output and I connected the fireware cable to the video camera to record my mixing with resolume

but I can't find a way to see the video
output in the camera, why?
does resolume support firewire output?

the firewire is only a fast digital interface, that means, if you want to output the video to the firewire port and record it on a dv-cam it has to be dv-encoded by the computer. And with the current computers it's not possible to run resolume and encode the videostream to dv...
try to use the composite out or svhs out of your laptop (most have one)...

It would be cool to use two laptops connected via firewire, both with resolume to mix.
Feed the output of one lappy with resolume into the one of the layers of resolume on the other lappy.
Cool and interesting but probably not worth the price of 2 laptops (+ 2 licences of resolume )!

oh yes..soo worth the price of two laptops...but i'd go with a good mixer inbetween the lappies instead of firewire....in fact i'll have three laptops please!

Live DV encoding isnt that hard, saying its impossible with current computers is simply lazy. Its a lot of work to properly implement but a very VERY good alternative to low quality composite or s-video outputs. Especially when mastering for for example a dvd recorder.

I mean, you'll get at the limit if you try to encode 3 videostreams, process them (with or without filters) display them and encode the stream in dv ... remember the DV resolution. A quite fast maschine which will only show a video and encodes it in realtime will output only 10 fps at the firewire. Except the video is already encoded to the DV-format

true, but you can use uncompressed video OR low resolution video via firewire. Remember, firewire is just a bus, it doensnt have the codec in it. You can transfer anything over it, including normal data.
