would u say the difference in power between Laptops and Desktops is shrinking ?

I'm wondering if it's time to jump to a Top of the line Laptop.
There's new Core 2 duo Lappys coming out very soon.. and maybe even a 4 core lappy early 2007, and with Toshiba making 10 000 rpm HDDS for lappys... i think the time is coming close.
Okay... they probably wont ever be AS fast as a Desktop/shuttle BUT imo i feel the difference is always shrinking.. and with this new technology on the horizon... the difference might be quite acceptable.
I'd like to hear your opinions, especially the power-users of our forum.
