Please advise which of the two laptop processors CoreDuo or Pentium4 CPU will give better results when working with Resolume?
Is there a reason to buy the new Intel Core Duo if Resolume doesn't require dual processor,
or the old Pentium 4 with higher CPU frequency will be more productive? P4 is also much cheaper.
It is of my concern to find out how are the new graphic cards better for Resolume, what are their features apart from svideo out?
Which hard disk ATA 7200rpm or SATA 5400rpm will work better, considering that footages will be on external HDD SATA 7200rpm USB 2.0?
I am choosing from the following options

or is better to get
Apple iMac Intel Core Duo 2.0
or
Apple MacBook Pro - Intel Core Duo 2.0/RAM 1GB
or
Apple MacBook g4- 1.5Ghz/RAM 1GB

but i think that there will be problems with drivers, especially when working with midi and especially after Windows Vista will come out.
Maybe you can recommend some other option, with optimal productivity with price range of $1,500

the mac core duo 2.0 - do you mean core 2 duo? that is by far the best processor on the market right now. I have one in a pc desktop, and can push 3 layers with tons of effects at 640x480 without any slow down - at least 30-40 fps. The model numbers on these core 2 duos, if it helps, are E6300, E6400, E6600, E6700 - if this is the processor they are referencing, that is the way to go - just install windows on the machine. I have a E6600 2.4ghz - which blows away any of those other processors - ghz is irrelevant anymore, its all about architecture of the chip. I built my pc for about $1700 all said and done - you could cut a few corners to meet your $1500 range

As I understand resolume only uses one core.

I have a 2Ghz solo- 3 layers with effects, 50-60fps, 400x300 scaled to 800x600.
going up to 640x480 is a bit of a leap processing wise, I consider framerate/effects more important than resolution. I think when I was testing 640x480 it would drop down to 15fps and it didn't really like to many effects. But remember even if Resolume doesn't fully take advantage of both cores you still don't have the overhead of all the background services etc on the same core. You can even try setting the cpu affinity to core two, I often do this when rendering in the background, leaving core one for daily tasks.
Full multi threading is the future, so if you want to future proof 2 (or 4!) cores is the way. I'm sure eventually resolume will take advantage of more than one core if it doesn't do so already.

a single core of the core 2 duo blows away any older single or dual core processor. I've been trying to get this out there for a while, read all my posts. ANY core 2 duo will blow away any older processor, regardless of ghz. it uses a 65nm technology that is far superior to older 90 and even 120nm technology. People - stop comparing the core 2 duo (not core duo) to other processors as a comparison for guessing how it will run. It runs fantastic, end of story. read my post labled "actual dream machine"
