Problems with Dual Socket Lenovo Workstation

Hi Everybody,

So my first post here is about not one but several problems with a lenovo PX workstation,
which we have bought because more PCI express Lanes.
We were fully aware that the second socket is more like a glorified southbridge,
but still went with it as one socket alone should provide enough power.

It was running well while testing with 4x4K BM SDI Inputs, and 3x4K out & GUI.

With a Windows update sometime 06/2024 we started to get performance Issues,
and the System starts filling RAM, and after 4-6 hours framerates, which for reasons unknown are now mostly below 50 start to drop to 4-6 frames.

Any ideas regarding this?

Are you using other capture sources too, or outputs with the BMD?

We're working on some memory issues related to those.

Good Morning Zoltán,

Thanks!
Regarding your question:
No, we do not.

As you are speaking about memory, may be this
Helps:

We hava made a .dmp file when Resolume was
@12 fps & using about 50Gigs of RAM, still gobbling up more.

Further we have been in Contact with BM,
When temporary all input cards in PX machines failed with Desktop Video 14.2, which we recovered on one machine.
Also there is an already escalated case with Lenovo, which you are more than welcome to pitch in, as i think there may something to be learned by
every party involved ;)

Elias

So, all your outputs go from the GPU directly?

Do you see a steady increase in RAM usage right from the app start, or loading a specific deck?

Yes, they do.

As it happens RAM goes steadily up,
The composition initially takes about 12G,
And at one point got to 50, took about 72hours.

But:
The latest version seems to be running stable
Over time.
Though still with abysimal performance.

Question regarding this:
If overall RAM speed & bandwith is fine,
Is there a difference between single / multichannel?

Thanks,

Elias

12GB composition load, hmm,
Can you share the composition here, or via mail@resolume.com?

Could you please also send us the Resolume log file via the feedback tab in preferences?
Thanks!

Hi Zoltàn,

Sorry for the late reply, its a 2 hour travel to the venue where the machines are located.
I have sent the Feedback and log, please find the composition attached.

Thanks,

Elias

Addendum:
As the machines where running with only one channel of RAM Populated, today i made one out of two, what a wonder, contrary to what lenovo is saying there is 15-25 fps to be gained.
The logs i sent earlier are with 4 of 8 channels populated.

Sounds good,
So the Memory usage is now stable with the latest release?
