I really interested in finding out what gear other V.J.s use, I'm in India, and I'm the only V.J. I know of here....
I use 1-PIII 1.2 G/30 G hard drive/Video out Laptop 1-PIII 733 Mhz/60 G Hard drive and Video out desktop running various softwares and winamp plug-ins 1-old VCR routed though an Mx1-P video mixer.
Projectors are rented or provided by venue. When I run more than one screen, I use a friends P.C. that runs automaticaly the whole night. I capture original footage using an old PII 233 with a buz card compressing directly to mjpeg, although I just got the mjpeg2000 codec from morgan-multimedia.com and it's the best thing I found so far:Lossless compression with smaller files.
