Jus finished reading through the whole Resolume manual and getting to grips with it's functions

Hey guys, firstly I'd like to apologise to those of you I've been snapping at or those of you who have thought I may come across a bit rude and lazy...I completely understand if you think that!
I had a small operation on Tuesday and it's left me homebound for a few days so the plan was to set up my VJ rig, learn how it's done and start preparing for my first sequence (which I'm planning to do for a uni project in January). Basically I'm giving myself a VJ crash course and this is the start of it, so I'm stressing myself out a little. Stress, excitement and inpatience isn't a good mix - I've learnt that!
I know it all sounds a bit much and it probably is but like I've said before, I work best under pressure and whether the project is good or not, at least by January I'll be slightly more confident as an up n coming VJ (which I will be).
With all my 'lazy questions' before I and all the stuff I've picked up whilst reading the manual I am even more blown away by the potential of VJ'ing and what can be done! I didn't realise the software was so advanced and so accurately made! Now I'm glad I paid money for Resolume because you guys deserve it.
Anyway, as ever I have a few questions still, I'll always have questions!
I starred a few parts of the manual I was slightly unsure about, I'll number each part so it's easier for you to reply, if anyone does reply!...
1. Multiple Booting Windows - As suggested in the manual, I don't have an XP CD to boot from, is this really worth it?
2. In the effects section, it mentioned pressing CTRL + 'effect shortcut' to assign or remove an effect, I couldn't work out this process, what is it?
3. Active Layer - With the active layer automator the effect parameter is directly linked to the timeline of the clip etc. Activate the I button to invert link value....etc...?...Again, couldn't work out this process, where's the I button?
4. I was blown away by the Audio Analysis feature! What do you find is the best setting for Gain and Fall on H L or M? Or does it vary with different clips/music?
5. Flash Variables?
6. DMX - why would you want to use a lighting effect with your set? You're projecting visuals!!!!
I know some of these points may sound a bit dumb but hey I'm from Essex (probably the only VJ in Essex) and I'm not ashamed. The rest of it I've taken in and having a great time playing with it, especially the live cam feed capabilities...Wow!
Thanks for any help. Anyone got any gigs in the UK soon? Let me know, I'm sure I can drag a few people down.
